This session will review teaching strategies learned during the pandemic and introduce a framework for purposefully identifying which pedagogies to keep, reboot, or amplify. Next, you will engage in teaching strategies that can be used across multiple grade levels and over multiple subject areas that increase student collaboration, rigor, and 21st century thinking skills. Then, you will co-plan a few lessons with peers and create several activities that can be used immediately in your next few weeks. Special breakout sessions will be available for instructional coaches and administrators. Finally, Theresa will showcase how these simple, yet effective strategies, can be used in any modality: in-person, hybrid or virtual so that you are prepared for all learners.
Theresa Wills, PhD, is the author of Teaching Math at a Distance, K-12: A Practical Guide to Rich Remote Instruction. Theresa is an assistant professor of mathematics education at George Mason University, working with in-service mathematics specialists and pre-service elementary and secondary teachers. Theresa has taught synchronous online classes and webinars since 2010 and researches teaching practices that are adaptable to the online environment. As a former classroom teacher and math coach, Theresa still volunteers regularly in K-12 classrooms.
