Looking for an opportunity to SHARE the great work that you lead in supporting the learning of your students? Looking for an opportunity to ADD to your portfolio of projects and art works that you can share with your learners? This will be a great chance for you to do BOTH. Join Monica To and Travis Hartl as they moderate these collaborative conversations where they, and you, will share examples of work/projects that you do with your students. Remember, bring one or two of your ‘go-to’ projects/assignments and be prepared to return to your classroom with many more!

Travis has taught at Wainwright High School since 2008. Majoring in Art, for his Ed degree at the University of Alberta, he was lucky enough to land an Art Teaching role at WHS shortly after graduation. Both in terms of Junior High and Senior High, Travis has had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented students as well as some reluctant learners. While it is an absolute gift to be able to work with those who are naturally talented and invested, it is with the reluctant learners he has been able to hone his craft. This would be an area Travis would love to focus on in our discussions with the premise that 'At the school level, Art is a skill that can be taught while talent is often preexisting skills, experience and speed that many students have not yet learned.
Monica ToBorn and raised in the Edmonton area, Monica came to Vermilion in 2004 to teach art to teens and has resided there since. Her body of art reveals a Jack-of-All-Paints experimental spirit and is a variety of charcoal, pencil, paint, and printmaking, and she draws out her skills in the classroom, workshops, in commissions, shows and exhibitions.
