This session will introduce participants to the pedagogical theory, architecture and tools for the new K-4 Curriculum from Alberta Education including an introduction to conceptual knowledge and procedural knowledge. Participants will become familiar with the look, feel, and use of the new Curriculum and explore the digital curriculum application at newLearnAlberta.ca as a tool for working with the curriculum.
Sandra Ciurysek, the Executive Director for the Northwest Regional Learning Consortium (NRLC). She holds a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. Sandra is a former elementary school principal, and high school English teacher. She has taught various subjects from K-12, led the student services department of K-6 school and has a passion for education. She is experienced in delivering adult learning, teacher professional development and is an advocate for lifelong learning. Sandra is a longtime resident of the Peace Country and lives in Berwyn, Alberta.
