Integrating Technology into your Humanities Classroom
Greater Peace Fall ATA PD Day (HFCRD & PRSD)
Peace River, AB – October 17, 2011
AM Session - Div 3 & 4 Integrating Technology into your Humanities Classroom (Engaging Learners, Going Green, & Saving Time)
Facilitator: Jonathon Groff
This session will be best suited for ELA or Humanities subject areas, mostly because we require students to complete large amounts of research and written work. The technologies discussed would be relevant for any teacher who is interested in integrating technology into their classrooms, but you’ll need to work harder to come up with practical applications for other subjects.
This session will focus on a few key technological solutions to some common problems in the classroom: How to engage learners, save us some instructional time, go green, have students collaborate. The session will provide an overview on tools like “QR Codes” (those funny looking black-and-white square graphics you’ve likely been seeing every time you turn around), Dropbox, and Google Docs. Time will be provided for teachers to try the tools out for themselves and have their questions answered. My afternoon session, “The Flipped Classroom,” will mention many of these technological tools.
