How can we help students flourish in inclusive settings when lagging social and emotional skills get in the way of success? How does trauma impact our students?
Increased awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) sheds light on the number of students who may impacted. ACE research is now highlighting the impact that significant stressors can have on learning, building on robust data showing at-risk behaviours, long-term health issues, diminished life success indicators, and intergenerational impact.
Neuroscience and the field of trauma treatment offer points of intervention. When we understand the impact of trauma and big stressors, we strengthen our abilities to structure inclusion for success. By the end of this full-day engaging workshop participants will have the opportunity to:
- List and explore 10 key understandings
- Tap into personal strengths
- Build connections with colleagues
- Identify the primary needs of a current student
- Create a plan to address those needs
